The Government Affairs committee will be one of most important committees.  The committee is tasked with monitoring legislative and regulatory activity in each of our seven member states.  We oversee lobbying activities including the planning and execution of “Days on the Hill” so the face of Urgent Care is known to our legislators and state leaders. The committee also interacts with many other professional organizations such as our state medical societies and other professional organizations. 

Our committee is charged with monitoring each of our states for regulatory and legislative issues that could affect urgent care. The GAC will be proactive in reaching out to legislators to educate them on the practice of urgent care before there is an issue, as well as proposing legislation that is beneficial to urgent care.

In addition, proactively and responsively facilitate appropriate legislative, regulatory and reimbursement advocacy for urgent care. Establish a network of professionals in each state to monitor the activities of and exchange information with those involved in making decisions about public and private funding and regulatory issues for urgent care-related health care at state levels.

Our Government Affairs Committee Provides

• Monitor all health related legislation and regulatory rules and to represent the interest of all Urgent Care medicine to legislators, health agency authorities and other health professional organizations.
• Be an advocate for health care changes and access while ensuring communications to our membership.
• Attend meetings, conferences and other political gatherings as needed.
• Facilitate, review, and oversee advocacy for urgent care in the private and public sector.
• Effective communications to government officials and maintain healthy relationships for our organization.
• Provide official comment on health and urgent care related legislative changes.
• Keep membership informed of government actions regarding new policies, laws and various other topics as it relates to urgent care medicine.
